Valentine Fishing Gift Basket

Here is the gift basket I put together for my hunny this Valentine's Day! Ryan loves to fish and I love to fish with him. I know he loves to take me too ;) So i decided to make a fishing basket for him. I got the idea from the candy box I got from Target. I just took all the tags off of it an made my own tags.

I used the saying on the box and remade it on Word then drew a fishing pole on it and decorated it with some ribbon. The candy was gone the first day :)

For this little bucket of worms, I went to Hobby Lobby and bought a clear small paint gallon and filled it with gummy worms. I again made a tag that says "Hooked on you" and drew a little picture!

I put some red candy and scratch off tickets for extra fillers.

This is the bucket I put it in. The saying says, "The very first time you took me fishing, you became the GREATEST CATCH of my life. You REELED me in...and I've been HOOKED on you ever since." We love to fish together and I'm so happy that we can share this past time together.

Groundhog Day Treat

Ok so this is for all you teachers out there or you mommies that love to do projects with your kiddos... Yesterday at the daycare I work at my fellow teacher and I made this edible groundhog. He was so cute! We found him in the Family Fun magazine (love this magazine).

Finished Project.

These are all the ingredients we used to make this cute little guy. 1. Punch cups. 2. Oreo cookies.  3. Reese's Peanut Butter Chips. 4. Chocolate Frosting. 5. Almonds. 6. Chocolate Pudding (Not Pictured). 7. Milano Cookies. 8. Cellophane Treat Bags. 9. Ribbon.

To start out our lesson for Groundhog Day, we used a chart so that the kids could guess if the groundhog would see his shadow or not. I recommend calling the kids over one by one because if you don't they like to just go along with the other kids and then you will have all the kids under one side. I called them over one by one and it worked great.

After we put all of their names on the chart we started to make our treat.
Some Tips:
1. Make sure that you cut all of the ingredients the day before. We made the mistake of not doing this which made the whole project longer.

Steps to do the day before:
1. The oreos need to be smashed into little pieces. Put them in a zip lock bag and pound them to crumble them up.
2. Cut the tips off of the peanut butter chips.
3. Cut a few teeth out of the almonds.

Steps for creating this yummy treat:
1. Write their names on the punch cups and give one to every kid.
2. Open the pudding. We let the kids dip their own out. It may get messy but they had fun. Fill the cups 3/4 full of pudding.
3. Give each kids a glove and let them get some oreos to put on top for dirt.
4. We gave all the kids a Milano Cookie.
5. We went around with frosting and whole almond pieces. Put some frosting on the back of  their cookie and let them put the whole piece almonds on for ears. I had to demonstrate on one first so they knew that they had to stick out a little.
6. We just put icing on the back of the tooth (the cut almonds) and they put it on their ground hog.
7. We put icing on their cheeks (the peanut butter chips) and they placed them  on also.
8. We went around with and icing bag and made their eyes and nose for them.
9. Ask them to stick their ground hog half way in their dirt being careful not to make the face fall off.

They had a great time making this treat!

In order for these kiddos to take their treat home we made it a little easier to carry home. We put the cups into a cellophane treat bag and tied it with ribbon giving it a cute look!

Hope you enjoy doing this with your kiddos!

New to this blog thing..

So...I want to try this whole blog thing. Well, my name is Natalie. I am attending college right now to obtain a teaching degree, so alot of this blog will be about teaching becoming  a teacher and teaching ideas. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE to craft!! So that means that there will probably be a lot of posts about my projects. Aside from the crafting and schooling, I could not be more blessed with my family, friends, and boyfriend. So alot of this blog will have  alot to do with the people who make me who I am. I have been in  a relationship with  my high school sweetheart (Ryan) for six years. It will be 7 years in March : ). He is the love of my life and I couldn't imagine sharing those years with anybody else.

Ryan and I got our pictures made to give as Christmas presents this year!

Another important person in my life which will show up in my blog alot will be my sister and my niece, who will be 6 months old in February. She is the most adorable thing! My sister is not only my sister but also my best friend. No matter what we are doing we always laugh together. Spending time with her is never a dull time. She is always there for me when I need her. I couldn't ask for a better sister. God knew what he was doing when he made you my sister.

Lindsay and Brynlee Christmas 2012.

Two other people that mean to world to me are my parents. How could you get throughout life without your parents? My mom and dad have always been there for me and could not be more happy with the way that they raised me. I would not trade this life for anything else!

My family and I at my sisters wedding!

OH....I can't for get my child! He is the cutest little guy and we are best friends! I got this little guy when I was 18. He is a poodle mix...Tucker.

So I hope I can keep up with this blog and showcase my crafts and ideas. This blog is gonna be served as a diary of my life events as my life grows.
